Hello, everyone, and happy Monday! Today we are doing the Inside and Out book tag. This one is a little older and I can’t for the life of me remember where it came from. Either way, this should be fun. So, let’s get to it!
1. Inside flap/Back of the book summaries: Too much info? Or not enough?
Ashley: I think the book summaries are always just enough. However, I read the summary like once, decide if it sounds good or not, and then completely forget about it by the time I get to the book. You could spoil the entire book for me and I would have no idea.
Katie: Typically there’s just enough information there, I don’t think I’ve ever had an issue with how much or how little is told before I start reading something.
2. New book: What form do you want it in? Be honest: Audiobook, E-Book, Paperback, or Hardcover?
Ashley: Hardcover. I don’t mind paperback because they are cheaper, but if it’s new and I don’t want to wait a year for the paperback to be released, then I will definitely get hardcover.
Katie: Hardcover, I think I might own like 15 paperbacks in total. I think they’re too easily damaged, and I’d prefer to hold the real thing over an ebook.
3. Scribble while you read? Do you like to write in your books, take notes, make comments, or do you keep your books clean clean clean?
Ashley: I definitely don’t write in my books. And I’m scared to tab them because I’ve heard the glue on sticky notes can destroy your books. But I do enjoy taking notes while I read. It’s easier to write a review in my opinion. But it’s always done on separate paper.
Katie: I’ve tabbed a couple of books before, never written in one. I could never bring myself to damage a book like that! Sometimes I make a note on my phone and type up certain lines or quotes I enjoy.
4. Does it matter to you whether the author is male or female when you’re deciding on a book? What if you’re unsure of the author’s gender?
Ashley: I don’t even usually pay attention to the author’s name unless they are some of my favorites. So gender really has no hold there. Though I have realized I unintentionally read more from female authors.
Katie: I read more female than male authors as well, but it’s never intentional. I’m fine with either honestly, I don’t have a preference.
5. Ever read ahead? or have you ever read the last page way before you got there?
Ashley: Sometimes if something catches my eye on like, the page beside the page I’m reading or a couple paragraphs down, I can’t help but look. But as for purposefully reading the last page or further in the story…HELL.NO.
Katie: I do the same thing with accidentally peeking onto the next page if it’s right in the line of sight, but I always try and stop myself from ever reading the very end of anything.
6. Organized bookshelves, or outrageous bookshelves?
Ashley: I will try my hardest to keep my books organized, but it’s not really a specific type of organization someone would immediately recognize. I’m very visual, so I like my favorite books and series and my signed book on the top and center of my row of shelves. Then I just organize what looks best around those. My shelves do get messy though, but I attempt to avoid it.
Katie: I have all of my books alphabetized by author (probably the bookseller in me), and I have separate shelves dedicated to ARCs and Harry Potter stuff.
7. Have you ever bought a book based on the cover (alone)?
Ashley: Of course, who hasn’t?
Katie: More often than I’d like to admit.
8. Take it outside to read, or stay in?
Ashley: Inside. Nothing beats a cozy couch or bed. However, I love love love natural lighting, so if its better outside (and a decent temperature) I’ll go out for a bit.
Katie: I’m much more of an indoors person. I go outside to get to other indoor places basically, so I’ll always vote indoors.
What are some of your reading preferences? Do this tag and leave a link in the comments below so that we can see your answers!
I don’t write in my books either – I just kind of get anxious that I’m going to mess everything up! Thank you for tagging me! 🙂
