Hello, everyone! We hope everyone is having an awesome Saturday, and we apologize for the lack of posting the last few weeks. With working and prepping for our NYC BookExpo/BookCon trip, blogging took a backseat on the list of priorities.
But we’re back, and we thought today would be a good day to tell you guys about our amazing New York City trip!
Tuesday, May 29th
We arrived at our hotel after a 9 hour drive (and after some issues checking in – Katie is switching to a new bank stat), and this was the view from our window!
Wednesday, May 30th
On Wednesday, Day One of Bookexpo, we picked up our badges. We didn’t have much of an interest in any of the panels happening that day, so we decided to be tourist-y. We budgeted enough to go to one attraction, and we chose Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. Let’s just say, some of them were eerily realistic.
Thursday, May 31st
The showfloor opened up on this day, so we got to the convention center super early! We had a game plan for ARC drops and signings, which honestly is the best way to get the most out of BookExpo. We also decided to go to a panel, which featured Laini Taylor, Naomi Novik, and Rena Rossner!
Friday, June 1st
This day, we waited in way longer lines, but we got to meet some really cool authors – including Laini Taylor, Becky Albertali, and Adam Silvera!
Friday evening, we were super lucky to be invited to a Goodreads party! We got to meet some bloggers and Goodreads editors, and it was all around a cool event. Oh, and did we mention Alexandra Bracken stopped by? She was the sweetest and chatted with us for a little while!
Saturday, June 2nd
Saturday was Day One of BookCon, and it was chaotic. There were a lot more people than the days of BookExpo, which was expected, but it wasn’t as great for us. The lines were much longer and super disorganized, which was a result of people just crowding and the booth workers not having great communication. However, we did have tickets to meet Naomi Novik that day, and we also got to listen to Samuel Miller talk about his book A Lite Too Bright (and he sang!).
Sunday, June 3rd
We actually decided to skip BookCon Day Two – we were exhausted – and we packed up, drove another 9 hours, and made it home safely. Here are some photos of the Javits Center to make up for not having photos from Day Two!
All in all, we came out of this week with around 45 books each, some of which will definitely go to our moms! We got to meet some amazing authors and fellow bloggers, and it was super fun! Here are our hauls!
We each got our most anticipated releases, and we couldn’t be more excited to dive into them!
