Top Five Friday | Naked Books

Along with maps and beautifully end pages, one thing we always look for is a good naked hardback. One of the best things about owning mostly hardcovers is that we have a variety of super cool covers that we don’t mind taking the dust jacket off of! So, let’s talk about some of our favorites.

*These are in no particular order!*

1. Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Tomi won the lottery with this book, definitely! The cover is gorgeous, the end pages have a beautiful map, and the naked cover has really nice detailing! No wasted space on this one, that’s for sure.

2. Warcross by Marie Lu

Katie: This edition of Warcross is the UK cover, and I went straight to Book Depository to order it the minute I laid eyes on it. I needed it much more than the US copy.

3. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

We technically own 3 copies of this book — the Owlcrate exclusive edition, the Barnes and Noble edition, and the regular hardcover. All three are beautiful, and I hope that when Wicked King comes out in January, the covers rival these!

4. The Diviners by Libba Bray

Katie: Now, this series has gone through the dreaded cover change curse, but I still hold on to my original copy. It’s too pretty to get rid of to get matching covers!

5. The Illuminae Files series by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

These books have great cut-outs on the covers, and the hardbacks themselves read just like the pages inside with notes, script, and emails! It’s super unique and stands out on a shelf.

We’re cheating again this week and adding more to our top five, who cares?

6. The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw

Katie: Apparently this edition is hard to come by now, so I’m super happy to have a copy! The stars give this witchy book a celestial vibe, and I love it.

7. The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff

Looks like Jay’s on here twice, but can you blame us? These naked UK copies of Nevernight and Godsgrave are too cool to not include.

8. Caraval and Legendary by Stephanie Garber

Katie: It wouldn’t be a “Lost in Pages” list without mentioning Stephanie Garber and her gorgeous books. These UK copies had hidden covers under the dust jacket, so these are the ones I got!

Okay, we’re finished! Looking at books is never work though, right?

  1. Ugh! I love these. I always check hardcovers before I buy them to see if the naked cover is pretty. If it is then I am so much more likely to buy it.
