Hello, everyone! Recently I joined a bookish group on Facebook called TBR and Beyond. I met one of the founders at a signing, and I was super excited to join a group because I don’t have a lot of book-reading friends IRL. Starting on July 1st (yes, I’m a couple days late), TBR and Beyond is hosting a read-a-thon game! There are prizes to be won at the end – August 31st is the ending date. To be entered, all you need to do is roll a die and move along the game board by reading a book that corresponds with the spot you land on!
I pre-rolled so I could gather up every book I’d be reading for this game, so the spots I landed on are:
Seven books over the course of basically two months isn’t terrible! I definitely can do it. I picked out the books I’m using for each category, and I’m really excited about them.
Funny – The Hidden Power of F*cking Up by The Try Guys
These guys are hysterical, and I’ve already started the audiobook for this one!
Travel – A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
It’s been way too long since I’ve told myself I was going to pick up this story with traveling between dimensional Londons.
Mystery – Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
I went to an event where Maureen talked about this series, and she made it sound super interesting. I’m down for a boarding school mystery.
Sci-Fi – Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I’ve read this one before years ago, but I honestly remember nothing from it. I want to read the other ones, so might as well start over!
New Release – The Storm Crow by Kalyn Josephson
This one comes out on the 11th, and I have an ARC for it I’ve been meaning to get around to reading/reviewing. What a great opportunity!
Royals – An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
I just finished Sorcery of Thorns, and I really enjoyed it! This one deals with a Fae prince, and it’s also fairly short, so I can read it pretty quickly.
Graphic Novel – Green River Killer by Jeff Jensen and Jonathan Case
True crime and graphic novels? Count me in.
And that’s my TBR! I’ve been meaning to read multiple of these for some time now, so I’m glad this read-a-thon is giving me a reason to pick them up. Let me know if you’re planning on joining in on this beach book bash!
Until next time,
This looks like great fun, Katie. Wishing you the best.
I don’t like Summer heat, but I love the Summer read-a-thons and library themes that pop up this time of year, as well as the extra time to spend with my son thanks to school being out.
