Hello, everyone! Today is Friday, so it’s time for some more first lines!
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!
Your majesty,
Enclosed within is a full accounting of the events the led up to the burning of the Capitol. Much of the first section is based on transcripts derived from a conversation between two of the most pivotal individuals to the events; other sections consist of my own reconstruction.
And the book is…
The Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons! I’m currently reading this along with a few of my best friends for our little book club we’ve instated this year! I’m hoping it’ll get us all back into reading, and this story is intriguing so far!
